Temperature Monitoring and Control is achieved by a combination of heating and cooling using the PID algorithm.

Internal air temperature of separate areas of a building can be controlled by mechanisms such as:

  • Cooling fans
  • Fan heaters
  • Radiation heaters
  • Ventilation
  • Prioritised combination of the above mechanisms for staged heating and cooling

These mechanisms are brought into action automatically based on chosen priority as and when needed.

Equally a simple mechanism can be used to independently control temperature of an individual room or any enclosure using Three Term control to minimise costs.

All activities are logged by automatically grouping sensors and actuators involved in control - this helps in fault diagnostics and cause-and-effect analysis; the facility managers and engineers do not need to select sensors and devices separately for logging!

GCS control panel showing the current state of some room management programs and associated IO points. Logging of group of IO points can be enabled with clicking of button. In this example all IO points used to control environment of a room are automatically selected for logging enabling easy cause and effect analysis and diagnostic.

Room state window showing the temperature of the enclosure and the state of the program controlling it.

Enclosure temperature control configuration window allows heating and cooling set-points to be entered for any enclosure be it a room or a hall. Associated sensors and actuators are appropriately listed and can be easily selected. Other heating mechanisms for example a fan heater may be configured.

Maintenance engineer can check the details of the current state of setpoint sensor associated with any enclosure, in this case a room.

The Internal Air Temperature Sensor configuration window is used to allow its selection when the room temperature control program is being entered.

Air temperature control valve is configured prior to setting up the enclosure environment control and made available for selection. Logging sensitivity is entered appropriately to reduce size of log files.

Presence sensor configuration window allows it to be configured for any purpose for example security. Here it has been used to detect room occupancy.
